Ascendra One · Ex Astris

The training data your wrist is not built to reach.

Ascendra One is a sensing garment that measures heat across your torso and how your spine actually moves, then turns both into coaching you can act on mid-session.

The argument

Two signals nobody else can get.

This is not a claim that wrist devices are inaccurate. They are quite good at what they can reach. The point is what they cannot reach - and that is a question of geometry, not engineering. A sensor on your wrist is not touching your torso, and no amount of signal processing fixes that.

01

Torso thermal gradient

10 temperature sensors across the garment read heat zone by zone: left against right, upper against lower, where it is pooling and where it is clearing. A single reading is a number. A gradient is a picture.

A wrist device has one sensor, on a limb, downstream of everything that matters. It cannot construct a gradient because it only has one point.

02

Multi-segment spinal kinematics

3 IMUs distributed along the spine track how each segment is oriented and loaded, and how that changes as a session goes on. Posture is not one angle - it is a chain, and the chain fails unevenly.

A ring or a watch measures the motion of the limb it is strapped to. It has no mechanical connection to your spine, so it has nothing to report about it.

Where this is

7 units exist. We built every one of them by hand.

Ascendra One is in alpha. 7 hand-assembled units are with a development cohort right now, generating the data the production build is designed around. Pre-ordering puts you in the first manufactured run, not the prototype run.

What you get

A garment and a small computer.

The garment

Core layer in an 80/20 nylon/spandex fabric with the sensing layer built in, not attached. 10 temperature sensors, 3 spinal IMUs.

The DPU

Dockable Processing Unit. Nordic nRF52840, 250 mAh, BLE. Carries the 11th temperature sensor, the 4th IMU, and the PPG. Detaches before washing.

DPU band

Carry the DPU on its own for low-intensity days when you do not want the full garment.

iOS app + Aetheris

Live streaming and the Aetheris readout. App access is invite-only today; pre-order customers get priority.

Wear it. Sync. Get coached.

  1. 01

    Wear it

Pull on the garment and dock the DPU. The sensing layer is part of the garment, not clipped onto it - you stop noticing it in about a minute.

  2. 02

    Sync

The DPU streams over BLE to the iOS app in real time. No pairing ritual, no button to hold down.

  3. 03

    Get coached

Aetheris reads the combined thermal, postural and cardiac picture and tells you what it means for this session, while you are still in it.

The ecosystem

Multiple garments.
Multiple bands.
One DPU.

Trail shirt for mountain days. Training shirt for the gym. Recovery band for everything else. The sensor hub moves between all of them - the intelligence stays with you, not the garment.

Garments
Multiple garments, same DPU. Switch layers by sport, condition, or temperature - the DPU snaps in and picks up where it left off.
Bands
The DPU band gives you continuous core metrics without the full garment. Ideal for rest days, travel, or sleep tracking.
Control
Everything managed from a single iOS app. One device profile. All layers unified under Aetheris AI.

It moves when you move, and disappears when you need it to.

The app

Aetheris reads all of it at once.

Thermal gradient, spinal load and cardiac data are only useful together. Aetheris combines them into a plain-language readout while you are training, rather than a chart to interpret afterwards.

Being straight with you: the app is in TestFlight and access is invite-only right now. Pre-ordering puts you at the front of that queue - it does not get you in tomorrow.

More about Aetheris

The things you are actually wondering.

Can I wash it?

Yes. The DPU pops out first - it is the only electronic part that has to stay dry. The garment itself is designed to be washed like normal technical apparel.

We have not finished durability testing on wash-cycle count, so we are not going to quote you a number yet. It will appear in the spec table when we have measured it.

How does sizing work, and what if it does not fit?

S through XL. The garment is a compression fit by necessity - sensors have to stay in contact with skin to read anything, so a loose fit would degrade the data.

If it does not fit when it arrives, send it back within 30 days in original condition for a full refund. Before it ships, you can cancel any time for a full refund regardless.

How long does the battery last?

The DPU carries a 250 mAh battery and updates over the air.

We are not quoting a runtime figure yet. The alpha units are still being measured under real training load, and a battery number that turns out to be optimistic is exactly the kind of thing that makes people feel lied to. It goes in the spec table when it is measured.

When does it actually ship?

Our estimated window is Q2 2027. That is a good-faith estimate for a hardware product still going into production, not a guaranteed date.

If it moves, we email you with the revised window and you can cancel for a full refund at that point. You will not have to chase us for it. Details on the shipping page.

Can I get my money back?

Any time before your unit ships, for any reason, in full. There is no cutoff date and you do not have to give a reason - email [email protected].

After it ships, the standard 30-day return applies. Full terms on the refunds page.

Who sees my physiological data?

You own it. It is used to give you your readout and coaching, and it is not sold, rented, or licensed to anyone.

You can delete it at any time. If you connect a third-party service like Oura, that data is used only for live coaching and is never used to train models. Full detail in the privacy policy.

Is this a medical device?

No, and we are careful about this. Ascendra One is a performance and wellness garment. It measures physiological signals and helps you train against them. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and it has not been validated for clinical or diagnostic use. If something feels medically wrong, talk to a doctor, not a shirt.

Do I get the app?

Yes. Ascendra One includes the iOS app and Aetheris. App access is currently invite-only while we are in TestFlight, and pre-order customers get priority in the invite queue - see the Aetheris page.

I already have a watch and a chest strap. Why this?

A chest strap gives you a good heart signal from one point. A watch gives you a decent heart signal from your wrist plus motion of your arm.

Neither can tell you where heat is accumulating across your torso, or how your spine is moving segment by segment, because neither is in contact with the surface those signals live on. That is the gap this fills - not accuracy, geometry.

7 exist today. The next ones are manufactured.

$99 reserves a unit in the first production run. $350 is collected before it ships, $449 total.
